Lokahi Cares began quietly among neighbors who recognized that official systems often left single parents, isolated seniors, and newcomers to the Pacific Northwest to navigate hardship alone. Rather than operating from a distance, our earliest efforts focused on sharing fresh local produce and sitting down at shared tables to listen first.
Over the years, those informal gatherings evolved into structured, countywide mutual support networks across King and Pierce Counties. By rooting our daily work in the Hawaiian principle of lōkahi—harmony and mutual accountability—we ensure that every bag of groceries and every mentoring hour builds lasting community resilience.
True support begins by listening first and staying consistent through every season.
